Friends, allow me to share some personal documentation, observations, and insights from our work on advocacies on upland agriculture and nature in the Philippines and parts of Asia- Pacific covering the 70, 80s , 90s , through 2020s. It aims to summarize and synthesize” the field notes in my files and in my memory, and to celebrate the places and stories that have touched us! Also, to try to connect the past with the present and future. This is being done in a sort of laid back (lazy ) way ! Sorry, no scholarly writing involved here( perhaps, a Part 2 later )…
· About landcapes – the places, where the Lord Almighty gave us the chance to set foot
· About Lifescapes : remote, resource rich or resource poor communities, who tried to make a difference
· About development premises and ironies, then and now . A rapid “reality check” …
· About like mentors and thought leaders who guided our thinking ; peers that balanced our views, and younger colleagues who gave me hope that good ideas can be continued
· Stories from the different roles I played –as community facilitator, planner, project manager , technical consultant , evaluator, advocate and volunteer
