1.8 Village level adaptation measures enables remote Burmese Communities to cope better with climate change

Ideas that inspired us

  • On farm adaption must be complemented by landscape level adaptation. Farmers lives are too intertwined with forests and rivers in the community.
  • Grassroots oriented field facilitators can be tooled up to help communities build their adaptive capacity.

Personal Insights

  • Upland agriculture and community forestry programs need to be addressed simultaneously.
  • Time not only money, is much needed to make CCA at village level effective. This means that projects should have at least 5 years presence, not 2 years. Only small amounts of funding are needed, not large sums, for interventions to be sustainable.
