As my father being a WW2 Army officer in the Philippines, I had this natural liking for the WW2 story particularly in the Pacific theater.   One of the objectives of the 2023 European journey was to get to better feel what it was like during WW2 in Europe and the subsequent Cold War.

Present day Berlin is bright and sunny. Its is the capital of a strongly democratic nation with its people enjoying social welfare system for sometime.
